How RV and Fleet Insurance Claims Work

An RV insurance claim runs first notice, adjuster assignment, estimate, authorization, teardown, supplement, repair, and final payment. The supplement stage is where most of the real money is decided, because the initial estimate is written before anyone can see hidden damage.

The sequence

Every carrier uses roughly the same eight stages. What differs is how long each takes and how much documentation they expect.

  • First notice of loss. You report it, you get a claim number.
  • Adjuster assignment. On larger RV losses this may be a specialist rather than a general auto adjuster.
  • Initial estimate. Written from visible damage, so on a coach it is usually incomplete.
  • Authorization. You choose the shop and authorize the work.
  • Teardown. The unit comes apart and the real scope becomes visible.
  • Supplement. Additional damage is documented and submitted.
  • Repair. The longest stage, and parts lead time usually dominates it.
  • Final payment and release.

Where the time actually goes

Owners consistently underestimate parts lead time and overestimate labor time. On a structural coach repair, waiting for a cap or a sidewall section routinely takes longer than the entire repair.

  • Adjuster assignment: one to five business days.
  • Initial estimate: three to ten business days.
  • Supplement approval: three to fifteen business days per submission.
  • Parts on current model coaches: one to four weeks.
  • Parts on discontinued or fabricated components: four to sixteen weeks.

What we handle for you

Direct billing with sixteen carriers means you are not fronting the repair cost and chasing reimbursement afterward. We write the supplement, supply the photographs and take the back and forth.

Questions

Common questions

How long does an RV insurance claim take end to end?

Simple panel and paint claims close in two to four weeks. Structural claims run six to sixteen weeks, and the parts wait is typically the single longest stage rather than the labor.

Do you bill my carrier directly?

Yes, with all 16 carriers we work with including Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, AAA SoCal, Mercury and Allstate. You are responsible for your deductible, not for fronting the repair.
